PB Tech is actively improving both environmental and social outcomes with various programmes, but it is our ability to guarantee the redeployment of devices in the New Zealand economy that brings the potential for a step-change in IT hardware stewardship by government organisations.
We have a partnership approach with our suppliers to reduce emissions throughout the supply chain.
Every year, PB Tech takes more than 30,000 devices that would have been disposed and refurbishes them to a high standard so they get a second life in the New Zealand economy as an off-lease device.
By signing up to PB Tech’s Environmental Sustainability policy you can be certified that:
None of the returned devices enrolled in the Second Life Sustainability Programme will leave New Zealand.
All devices that reach end of life will be disposed of in a carbon-neutral fashion.
All data will be cleansed securely deleted in a closed-loop programme in accordance with AoG requirements.
Where possible, your returned devices will prevent the manufacture of a similar device.

PB Tech’s Second Life Sustainability Programme takes technology reaching the end of its initial lifecycle
and reconditions it so it works like new and has a second life.
If your business or school has devices that are near the end of their current life cycle, consider contributing
it to our
Second Life Sustainability Programme. PB Tech will buy old devices that you no longer need, and double their
utility to the New Zealand economy through guaranteed re-deployment of I.T. devices.
If your devices aren't fit to be re-conditioned and reused, we can safely dispose of them for you in a sustainable way.
STAY ACCOUNTABLE
Organisation-specific sustainability reporting
PB Tech collects key sustainability metrics from manufacturers about the sustainability of their products and packaging. These include EnergyStar rating, EPEAT certification, recyclable packaging and whether the products were shipped via air or sea freight. We integrate this data on your organisation’s custom portal so you can track how your organisation is doing over time against its environmental sustainability goals.
